Word of Life Kick-off!

Word of Life’s annual youth event, Kick-off, happened tonight.

I went as a helper with a church that my good friends attend. Left home at 3 pm, got home at 11:40. it was a hectic day, but SO rewarding. Essentially, what I did was help with a bit of the A/V setup, and run a couple of the games that were there.

There were arcade games, air hockey, foosball (table soccer), a huge inflatable rock-climbing wall, and many other games which I won’t bother explaining. I personally manned the foosball table. It was a bit challenging to say the least, but all up, wonderful!

More soon.

‘Tis the season for Christmas carols!

This evening, I went with my family to our friends’ church. Every year, their church runs a Christmas carols service. There was 45 minutes of singing/Bible readings/choir items and then a 10 minute Christmas message. The gospel was presented really well.

I will digress momentarily, and briefly mention something that’s bugged me: how did the song writer know that “the beasts…knew that all men He surpasses”? See verse 2 of “Unto us a Child is born”.

Cradled in a stall was he
With sleepy cows and asses;
But the very beasts could see
That He all men surpasses.

Seriously? How did the writer know that? Did it say so somewhere in the Bible? We shouldn’t think “wow, imagine the awesomeness if that really happened” or “I’m pretty sure this happened LOL”. Especially for Biblical matters. Just something I thought I’d share. What do you think?

I had a great day

Went to church. Heard a great sermon (Hosea) in the evening. Fellowshipped with friends.

I’m so thankful for these blessings.

On my staying-up late…and a Piper Q&A update

This is the latest time at which I’ve ever posted. 4:16 am, to be precise. Even ask the chc. We were IM-ing on WLM at 3 am my time. He was suitably shocked/impressed/horrified/LOL YO at the unearthly hour at which I was up.

Well anyways, it’s over. And it seemed like the time just flew by when John Piper was explaining his answers. Objectively,he did an excellent job. That’s magnified by the fact that his replies and comments were impromptu, off-the-cuff.

I’m sure Piper & Co. will post a summary on the website; I’ll share the relevant links here when they become available. Of more importance, perhaps, is the fact that the video of the live session will be made available for download. Links for these are also forthcoming.

PS: for consistency’s sake, it’s proper to mention that the time (of publishing this post) is now 4:29 am. *yawn* Good night!

This is a very powerful video. It’s produced by Albert Martin.

Hold that thought, God…
