New GPS!

Yep. Today, after much consideration, we bought a “GPS navigation device“. Catchy name, huh? I’ll refer to it as a GPS from now on (which is what most people know it as, anyway).

I must say, the TomTom One is awfully handy and convenient. The user interface is very intuitive and user-friendly. I had figured out most of the options and settings within a few minutes. Even my friend, who’s sometimes a bit slow to get the hang of new gadgets, was able to use it after a bit of fiddling and experimentation. It’s one of the most basic GPS units on the market, but it does the job very well.

For directions and spontaneity of route calculation, it’s brilliant. But you can’t easily visualize the route you’re taking, like you would in a street directory. That makes it somewhat harder to imagine the route if you don’t have the GPS and you need to get to a certain destination. However, I most willingly sacrifice that for the amazing ease of use and hassle-free operation.

What else can I say? If you’re still using a street directory, and you tend to drive to new places fairly often, then buy a GPS device. PRONTO. You’ll thank me later ;)
